You’re invited to Biocom California and BizFed Institute’s first annual “Greater LA Life Science Forum” on Thursday, July 14, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

COVID-19 has shone a spotlight on the life science industry, as scientists and researchers raced to develop therapies and vaccines to protect us all and get us safely back to work and our daily lives.

The Greater Los Angeles region has the potential to be the premiere global life science hub. However, the industry is at a crucial tipping point. While we have seen major growth in the life science sector, there is currently only a 1.5% vacancy rate in wet lab and shared lab space in the LA region. Demand is significantly outpacing the supply of these crucial facilities and developable properties — risking flight of this industry, that is a valuable economic engine, to other regions such as the Bay Area or San Diego.

To address these concerns, it is imperative that BizFed Institute (BFI) and Biocom California take this opportunity to convene leadership from the business community and policy makers to educate all key stakeholders on the importance of the life science industry and its large multiplier effect on our local workforce and economy.

Fostering growth for emerging local life science companies, who in turn provide more living wage jobs and lifesaving innovations, is a vital engine for the region’s economic recovery. With LA County life sciences generating over $60B in economic activity and receiving a record-breaking near $2B in NIH funding in 2020, it is important to keep the life science industry thriving.

During this event, we will discuss:

  • What companies are part of the life science industry, and what do they do?
  • What is the current state of the region’s life science industry and what does its success meanfor the prosperity of our local, national, and global economy?
  • How do we all ensure we retain crucial industry businesses and jobs here?

This conference will comprise of sessions with regional thought leaders, a hosted lunch, and a closing networking reception where we will offer hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and plenty of time for connecting with speakers and attendees! Learn how you can engage with and participate in the growth of this vital industry.
