Speakers:
The Honorable Xavier Becerra, Appointed Incumbent CA Attorney General
The Honorable Dave Jones, CA Insurance Commissioner
The Honorable Steven Bailey, Retired Judge
Eric Early, Attorney & Business Owner

Summary:
The program began with BizFed Institute Chair Gilbert Ivey welcoming everyone and singing God Bless America, with the crowd joining in.

Moderated by SCNG Opinion Editor Scott Kaufman, the candidates were asked to reflect on various topics related to the Attorney General role such as law enforcement, marijuana, environmental justice, prescription drugs, mental health, and the homelessness crisis. Facing off against all three of his challengers, CA Attorney General Xavier Becerra was confronted on all fronts and things got heated. Most notably, the candidates discussed issues related to immigration and the 32 lawsuits that Attorney General Becerra filed against President Trump’s administration.

Topics that both the audience in person and online focused on were the drug epidemic, the candidates’ top three priorities once in office and whether they will add more burden to businesses, free speech on state-funded college campuses, and the second amendment.
